Welcome to Thomas Middlecott Academy. Thomas Middlecott Academy is proud to be part of the David Ross Education Trust.

At Thomas Middlecott we are driven by our belief that all students are entitled to an academic education with knowledge at its core. Our skilled and expert staff ensure that no time is wasted in lessons- every minute of teaching and learning counts. Our teaching staff are all subject specialists- they share their knowledge via our version of fully guided instruction. As teachers and leaders we focus on evidence informed practice, which ensures that students retain the knowledge they are taught. We believe that knowledge has only been learnt once it is remembered.

At Thomas Middlecott Academy, our expectations are extremely high for every student, and we know that high expectations are a driving factor in improving student aspiration and, ultimately, student achievement.

We are committed to ensuring that all students have access to the best knowledge-based curriculum, and alongside all schools in DRET, we place great value on the opportunity for students to have access to the arts, sport, music and performance – we ensure that these experiences have an equal footing on our curriculum plans.

At Thomas Middlecott Academy, we refer to our culture as warm/strict. We are unapologetically strict when it comes to expectations of behaviour, but we also value highly our warm relationships between staff and students. We work hard to ensure that barriers to learning are removed and that students feel safe. We focus every minute of every day on broadening horizons for our students and staff.
