BAE Systems inspires students at Thomas Middlecott Academy

Thomas Middlecott Academy were delighted to welcome BAE Systems to the academy for a range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workshops in the Spring Term.

Focussing on the Physics of Waves, students from Years 7 and 8 learned all about sound vibrations and the movement of light when projected onto different surfaces.

Students also had the chance to find out more about careers in science for men and women, as well as further education opportunities.

Maisie, a Year 7 student, said: “It was really exciting to try out different science experiments. I found out lots more about potential careers too.”

Kat Nelson, STEM Coordinator at Thomas Middlecott Academy, said: “The students thoroughly enjoyed taking part in these workshops.

“These opportunities really allow the students to open their minds and look at key subjects in a different light. We may have some budding scientists on our hands after this visit.”
